Daytam Consultants is a newly established firm offering marketing consultancy services to clients. The role of the business is to develop appropriate marketing strategies for various products and to create brand awareness among consumers.

Business organization

Daytam will be organized according to the matrix structure. A matrix structure involves a combination of different structures to come up with the most suitable. A matrix organizational structure is different from other structures in that the reporting relationships are organized as grids rather than in a hierarchical manner (Baligh, 2006). In a matrix organization, functional heads are in charge of employees. Employees also report to the respective project heads. Matrix organizations complete units of jobs or specific projects while at other times, work involves a specific customer or product. Marketing consultancy businesses often engage in promoting specific products and often handle lengthy projects for clients. This makes matrix organization the best structure for the business. Legal and ethical issues that  impact  business

There are a number of potential legal and ethical issues that may impact the business. Ethical issues can be defined as issues pertaining to moral principles that employees are expected to follow. Legal issues are those outlined by law and which the company is expected to observe.

  • Integrity – this refers to doing what one is expected of and in the right manner.
  • Quality of work product – the quality of services provided must meet the expected professional standards. This is at the individual, team and organizational level.
  • Confidentiality with clients information – Due diligence must be observed to ensure that the client’s information is not disclosed to third parties without proper authorization.
  • Maintaining healthy competition – the company should not engage in any unlawful or deceptive acts in gathering information about competitors.
  • Accuracy of financial records – all financial information must be accurate and representative of the company’s internal state of affairs.
  • Corporate social responsibility – the company will work towards improving the lives of people in communities and ensuring environmental sustainability.
  • Compliance with government rules and regulations.

Business culture 

Business culture refers to the mode of business operations within a firm. Business culture determines how employees communicate to others and how they handle the clients.

  • Honesty and trust – honesty and trust are important virtues in a work environment. Employees must work with integrity and exude high ethical values at all times.
  • Fair treatment – all employees should treat all individuals with respect. In accordance to this, all forms of discrimination are not allowed in the organization.

Motivation is integral in ensuring high productivity among employees. Motivation provides the driving force to work hard (Pinder, 1998). The following types of motivation will be available:

  • Recognition – this is the easiest way to motivate employees. It involves giving words of praise to employees who show outstanding performance. Recognizing the employees’ efforts is a good way of motivating them.
  • Promotions – according hardworking employees with leadership opportunities is a good way of motivating them. This can also help the company retain the best employees by giving them new challenges (Pinder, 1998).
  • Rewards – offering rewards may encourage employees to work harder and make them feel better about themselves. Rewards may be in form of tangible goods to intangible things such as office fun days and holidays on achieving set quotas.
  • Coaching – this involves the management discussing issues facing employees. Managers should offer support to employees in order to motivate them (Pinder, 1998).

In the modern world, information technologies form the basis for most business operations. Technology in the organization will be employed for three major purposes; official communication, computerized accounting system and social media marketing. The primary communication systems include electronic mail, telephones, conference systems, instant messaging, and intranet among others. Compensation involves all the monetary rewards that employees are entitled to receive as a result of their employment. Benefits refer to additional payments that employees are entitled to such as paid leave, medical insurance, sick leave and others.
  • Safety and health – in this area, the HR will be responsible for ensuring a safe work environment to employees. The HR must ensure that employees work in an environment that does not degrade their health.
  • Labor relations – the HR will be responsible for identifying suitable unions which can advocate on employee’s welfare.
