The Little Black Dress

The little black dress legacy still lives on even in today’s fashion arena. Most London-based designers had their own variations on the LBD, and the results were amazing – there was pomp & color, and most fashion items indicated hyper-street fashion.

Fig. 1.1. Natalie Portman

This figure shows Natalie Portman wearing a fashionable Rotarde dress from the 2015-2016 Winter collection. What is fascinating about this dress is the unique lace designs that adorn it. Drew Barrymore paid homage to the color.

Fig. 1.2 Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger is another model who wore a fashionable black dress in the 2015-2016 Fall/Winter collection. The black dress was from Anthony Vaccarello, who gave his own variation of the little black dress. The dress was adorned with uniquely scissored stars from the hip downwards, which appeared like windows on the skin. Anthony Vaccarello paid homage to the color by using muse Anja Rubik.

Fig. 1.3 Model adorning Marios Schwab’s LBD

Marios Schwab’s little black dress stole the show with faint Goth appearance – created by models wearing crucifixes that hang down from the neck to the waist. A boyfriend jacket completed the upper look; and there was evidence that the designer tried to minimize the dark effect of the dresses by using juxtaposing blouses.

Fig. 1.4. A model in Simone Rocha’s classic dress

Simone Rocha’s little black dress can only be described as stunning and romantic in a way. The dress features unique rococo frills and chiffon. This dress droops on one side and is appliqued all around the hem making it see unique and romantic, one that could be worn during a romantic evening.

Fig. 1.5. Simone Rocha’s holding patterns

This amazing dress features uniquely designed holding patterns that cover the top and bottom parts. Padded velvet ensembles complete this look, showing a classy look of Bourgeois fashion.

Laura Mulleavy and Rodarte’s Kate presented a collection of ruffled dresses with characteristic shaggy furs. Other designers such as Marc Jacobs presented a gothic fantasia – a full dress that seems to radiate downwards giving a Gothic appearance. Lady Gaga wore the dress. Hood By Air presented streetwear during the past week. Proenza Schouler presented long dresses with twisted tailoring and laced-up knits. Alexander Wang presented little dresses featuring what seemed to be pole dancers and adorned with cannabis plant decorations.
