THE SOCIAL SCIENCES

The seven social sciences can be ranked according to their importance and influence in the society. They can be ranked from first to seven in the following order: psychology, sociology, political science, history, economics, anthropology, and geography (Blossfeld, H. P., Hamerle, A., & Mayer, K. U. 2014). The most significant social society is psychology while the least significant is geography. The paper will examine the seven social sciences ranking based on their influence and importance in the society.

According to Neisser, U. (2014), psychology is the study of the way human thinking influences almost all the social sciences. The critical thinking developed in studying psychology is important in all aspects of life like business and law. Sociology is the second significant social science as it equip human with human social relationship (Fabian, J. 2014). It thus assists them to learn and know how to coexist. Political science assists equip the learner with political power and authority of the state or government. It helps them to understand and set a system of government in a particular society.

The forth most significant social science is history or the study about the past. It helps the learner to learn about their origin and their evolution over a span of years. The fifth in the order of importance is economics. It is the study of how people use the limited resources in a bid to satisfy their wants (Blossfeld, H. P., Hamerle, A., & Mayer, K. U. 2014). The study helps people to make use of their resources well. The sixth in the rank is anthropology which investigates on the past and present life of humans. It assists us to understand the complexity of cultures across human history. Geography is the least important and significant among the seven social sciences. It is the study that gives human the ability to understand the environment, climate and physical feature of given places.

In conclusion, the paper has explained the different meaning of the seven social sciences and how they assist human beings in their day to day activities. The study shows the ranking of the seven social sciences according to their importance and influence in human life. Psychology remains dominant while the least influence area of study is geography.
